Submitting a Charge Decision

Step 1

Here, we can see the email notification you have received, prompting you to review the report documents. Simply click "Review Documents" to get started.

Step 2

The first time reviewing documents in VIDA, you will see this brief prompt explaining their next steps. Click "Dismiss" to continue.

Step 3

First, you will review the redacted narrative, completely generated by AI, based on the details available from the submitted police report. To view more case information, you can toggle to view the redacted Full Report in the upper right corner. After completely reviewing the redacted narrative or report,  click "Continue" to move forward.

Step 4

Make your initial charging decision. If you cannot charge, select a reason from the provided options. Once finished, confirm your decision by checking the checkbox, then click "Submit"

Step 5

After you submit your initial charging decision, you can begin your review for the final charging decision. The VIDA application will display the redacted and un-redacted narratives side-by-side for your convenience. You can also easily switch between redacted and un-redacted police reports using the toggle in the upper right corner.

Step 6

After reviewing the un-redacted narrative, you can click "Submit Final Decision" if you agree with your initial charging decision. If you want to make a different final charging decision, click "Change Decision" to modify your choice.
